The 2015-16 season hasn’t gone the way the Phoenix Suns were expecting thus far, as they sit at just 12-23, the third worst record in the Western Conference.
Considering Phoenix is unlikely to be playoff bound, it only seems logical that they try and make some moves before the February 18 trade deadline. One deal that could be on the table for Phoenix would be finally granting Markieff Morris’ wish to be sent away from Phoenix, as the beleaguered power forward made it known several times that he no longer wants to play with the Suns.
After a two-game suspension for throwing a towel at coach Jeff Hornacek, he apologized to his teammates, but it certainly doesn’t appear as though the Morris situation has improved all that much from when he first commented on the situation in the offseason.
Markieff’s twin brother Marcus, now a member of the Detroit Pistons has been vocal in the past about his dislike of his former team, and he continued that when speaking to the Detroit Free Press before the Pistons’ game against the Knicks on Tuesday.
“It’s self-explanatory. You see what’s going on. Sorry to say it, but it’s self-explanatory…I don’t know what’s going on over there. It’s like a (clown) show right now.”
In addition to criticizing the Suns’ organization as a whole, Marcus Morris also commented on if his brother was still looking to move to a new team.
“One thing about Keef is he’s always positive. Some stuff might happen a little, but he’s always positive. He’s still looking to get out of there, still looking to go somewhere else. Right now he has to be a pro and continue to take care of his business on and off the court.”
The Rockets are among the teams who have shown interest at one point or another in the power forward this season, but even if he doesn’t end up in Houston, it would be very surprising at this point if Morris is still wearing a Suns’ uniform by the time the trade deadline passes.
