The opening night game between the Lakers and Rockets in Los Angeles on Tuesday was billed as Kobe versus Dwight, former teammates who did not quite see eye to eye during their brief time together in LA. If not for the blowout final score, they may have held up their end of the drama late in the game as their tempers nearly got the best of them. However, more important in the grand scheme of things is the news that Lakers rookie Julius Randle suffered a fractured tibia late in the game and will now be out for an extended period.

Randle was the Lakers 1st round draft pick in 2014 and 7th overall out of Kentucky. The Lakers are not expected to compete in the loaded Western Conference, but Randle is one of the few bright spots for Lakers fans to look forward to.
There is no timetable for Randle’s return.
