Nintendo has yet to utter a peep about its next console, code-named the NX, but an increasing number of reliable rumors point to the new machine being a console-handheld hybrid. Specifically, a tablet-like handheld with detachable controllers, which you can connect to your TV via some sort of dock.
Well, Nintendo may not be talking, but their friends/business partners at The Pokemon Company have finally let a shred of NX information slip. When asked whether Pokemon games are coming to the Nintendo NX, Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara had this to say…
“The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device. We will make games for the NX.”
It’s a brief statement, but it’s the first confirmation from any sort of official source that the NX will have both console and handheld elements. Also, while Pokemon games being on the NX was expected, it’s still an exciting prospect. Fans have been pleading for a Pokemon RPG they can play on their TVs for ages, and now that the company’s handhelds and consoles are merging, it could finally be happening. An HD, console-quality Pokemon RPG? That could move an NX or two.
Nintendo is expected to finally unveil the NX sometime over the next couple weeks.
