2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, and Nintendo is celebrating in a big way. Today they’re re-releasing the original Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow for the first time, but that’s just beginning, as newly-uncovered information seems to indicate Nintendo is about to unveil an all-new entry in the series.
This morning, the sleuths at NerdLeaks uncovered European trademarks for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. The trademark registrations came with two pretty spiffy-looking logos attached…
The trademarks cover a wide variety of games, media and merchandise, so these aren’t a couple minor spin-off games. These are almost certainly the next two mainline Pokémon RPGs.
Nintendo has announced they’re holding a Pokémon-focused Nintendo Direct tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. PT. Nintendo hasn’t revealed all that much about the Direct, other than it’s to celebrate Pokémon‘s birthday, but it seems like it’s going to contain a pretty major bombshell. We’ll be keeping an eye on the Nintendo Direct and will report if and when Nintendo confirms Pokémon Sun and Moon.
So, what do you folks think? Like the new names? What do you want out of a new generation of Pokémon? Should Detective Pikachu appear in the game? Let’s Pokétalk.
