If you’re a fan of complex, western-style RPGs, then you know they name Obsidian. Since its founding in 2003, the studio has been responsible for numerous well-loved classics like Neverwinter Nights 2, Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth. Well, Obsidian just announced their latest RPG, entitled Tyranny, at this year’s GDC.
Tyranny is a classic isometric, computer-style RPG, set in a world where “evil has won.” Like most Obsidian games, player choice is a big feature, but instead of the traditional “good vs. evil” system, the game asks you to either serve or betray the world’s overlord Kyros. That may seem straightforward, but Kyros, despite being a nasty customer, is using his power to rebuild the world. Do you work to maintain order, or do you strive for freedom, which may cause chaos? Sounds like the game will provide plenty of different shades of gray.
You can check out a teaser trailer for Tyranny above, and some screenshots of the game, below…
No specific word on when Tyranny will arrive, although it will be sometime in 2016. What do you folks think? Are you fans of Obsidian’s past work? Excited for their latest old-school RPG project?
