Doctor Strange has a lot of question marks around it, not the least of which is how Marvel will pull off the Sorcerer Supreme in a cinematic universe mostly noted for a relatively grounded stance. And, of course, how they’re going to pull off his look, but that question, we’ve got an answer to.
Entertainment Weekly has a short profile of Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as the first photo of him in full doctor’s regalia, and interestingly, the movie hasn’t even shot the big magic bits yet. Cumberbatch is even still working on how to do magic gestures, it turns out:
It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet.
Just don’t let them make you spout doggerel, Benedict. They also know the precise nature of Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen’s roles in the movie, but that apparently will have to wait for the issue to arrive tomorrow. Until then, check out the cover:
