Ryan Reynolds Posts A Funny ‘Deadpool’ Video For Its ‘Monthiversary’

Deadpool had the biggest opening for an R-rated movie and whipped Passion of the Christ‘s record for the highest-grossing R-rated movie worldwide. (Reads previous sentence. Nods solemnly and adds another checkmark in notebook titled “Reasons I’m Going to Hell.”) And now, one month after opening, Deadpool has passed $700 million in worldwide box office from a budget of only $58 million.

To put that in perspective, Deadpool is now the 79th highest-grossing movie worldwide of all time, earning more money than Man of Steel, Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 2, Iron Man, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Thor.

The style of the ad replicates Academy Award nominee ads from the late 1990s and earlier part of the century. It also captures many of the elements audiences responded to in the film, including the irreverent tone.

“Irreverent tone” is a euphemism for “gratuitous butt” and we wouldn’t have our Deadpool any other way.
