Patty Jenkins Angrily Refutes The Allegations That ‘Wonder Woman’ Is ‘A Mess’

Friday saw an open letter published over on Pajiba, written by a reported former employee and aimed at Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara. You can read the content of the letter and judge its opinions as you wish, but one point that stuck out online is the status of Warner’s DC Comics films. Namely Wonder Woman, which is apparently “a mess” according to one passage :

“What are you even doing? I wish to God you were forced to live out of a car until you made a #1 movie of the year…

“Maybe Wonder Woman wouldn’t be such a mess. Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.”

This might be something that goes without remark given the film won’t be released until next summer, but director Patty Jenkins has chimed in with a furious rebuttal to the claims about Wonder Woman. Jenkins took to Twitter to comment on the reports being shared around the internet, noting that it was “made up bs” from her perspective.

Jenkins is on record with her confusion behind the poor reviews for Suicide Squad, so she has a track record in this department. But she’s also the driving force behind the Wonder Woman film, giving her a little more insight into the process than most would get behind the studio walls.

The only true way to know how the film will turn out is to wait for next summer and judge it as a finished product. What we’ve seen from Zack Snyder and company has been underwhelming for some to this point, but the hope is that it will turn around. Nobody wants to set out to make a horrible film.
