Seth Rogen Is Hiring Directors For ‘Preacher’ On Twitter

We haven’t heard much about AMC’s upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis’ southern gothic Preacher, other than Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg being hard at work on the pilot script. But apparently, Rogen has been looking for, and finding, directors for episodes on Twitter.

It largely started as a joke, according to SlashFilm, but the reaction Rogen got from directors like Duncan Jones (Moon) and Rian Johnson (Looper and some movie about stars fighting each other) says it all:

OK, so they’re largely joking around. But it tells you both the level of interest in this project, and how hard Rogen and Goldberg are working to get this script written. It’s complicated for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is that it’s a dark comedy about God abandoning the world and a violent preacher, his gun-happy ex, and a vampire they run into wandering the American Southwest trying to call God onto the carpet. It also features a role Patrick Stewart was born to play, Herr Starr, just to hear him deliver lines like this, or this, or this.

But, first of all, AMC desperately wants it to happen, especially since they’re pretty much “that network that shows The Walking Dead” now. Secondly, DC wants it to happen. And as we can tell, the creative team wants it to happen. So we’re optimistic, especially if directors are already lining up.
