The SaveMoney crew seems intent on dominating the summer. It started with the release of Chance’s Coloring Bookfollowed by Vic Mensa’s There’s Alot Going On, and the latest release was Joey Purp’s iiiDrops mixtape.
Towkio is next up to bat and released his first single, “Tear Drops.” Garren, the producer of the track, brought a sped up soul sample for Towkio to talk about some serious issues going on in the world. There’s a slight tinge of churchy-ness in the production that likely could’ve fit on Coloring Book, but Towkio is his own man and leaves his imprint all over the beat.
“Tear Drops” is in support for his upcoming album, Community Service 2, which is set to be released on July 7th. The entire project was reportedly recorded at Rick Rubin’s “Malibu getaway, Shangri-La.” Guest features will include Savemoney crew members Joey Purp and Vic Mensa with production duties handled by Garren, Smoko Ono, Mr. Carmack, and more.
