Good news for Gorbachaka fans!
FXX announced on Tuesday (March 3) that “Man Seeking Woman” has been renewed for a 10-episode second season.
The first new series to originally premiere on FXX is also the first new series to originally premiere on FXX and earn a renewal, even with ratings that, on the surface, don't necessarily appear that impressive.
To date, through its first five episodes, “Man Seeking Woman” is averaging 353,000 viewers among adults 18-49 and 254,000 viewers among adults 18-49 in Live+7 figures. Again, that doesn't sound huge, but FX notes that the 18-49 audience is 41 percent better than FXX's primetime average in that demo, while the 18-34 number is 67 percent better than FXX's primetime average.
Created by Simon Rich and based on his short story collection “The Last Girlfriend on Earth,” “Man Seeking Woman” stars Jay Baruchel as a newly single young man facing a quest for romance under the most heightened of circumstances.
“Simon Rich has delivered an incredibly smart and original take on the search for love,” states Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions with Eric Schrier. “Critics and fans alike have embraced his unique storytelling, Jon Krisel”s stunning visuals and the brilliant performances of Jay Baruchel, Eric André and the rest of the cast that has made 'Man Seeking Woman' one of the best new comedies on television.”
Adds Rich, “Working on 'Man Seeking Woman' has been the creative highlight of my life. FXX gave us the freedom to make the show we love and they let us build some truly disgusting monsters. I'm so grateful to John Landgraf and his team for believing in us and I can't wait to get back to work.”
The new season of “Man Seeking Woman” will premiere in 2016. Three more episodes remain in Season 1, including Wednesday's (March 4) episode, titled “Branzino.”
“Man Seeking Woman” will presumably continue to shoot in Toronto, while being set in Chicago even if certain events in the series clearly take place in Toronto (see last week's figure skating competition at Skydome [“The Rogers Centre,” if you prefer.]
