It”s been nearly 20 years since Spawn hit the silver screen. And now, after many fits and starts, it appears that the long-awaited sequel might finally be about to materialize.
In a video posted to his Facebook page, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane provided an update on the movie.
“I overwrote [the script] a little bit and now I”m trying to piece it together,” McFarlane said. He added that he expects to have his next draft done some time next week.
McFarlane continued, “Once I”ve got it down [and] buttoned up, then I will then take it out and go and hook at least two actors. And at that point, then that”s when all this starts to speed up.”
The update was met with skepticism by some of McFarlane”s Facebook followers, many of whom expressed their doubts in the comment section.
One of his followers, Charles Collins, wrote, ”Sorry, Todd but I'll believe it when i see it. You've been talking about a new Spawn film since 2001.”
McFarlane responded to the concern emphatically, “It's HAPPENING!!”
The 1997 film, which featured Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo and Martin Sheen grossed nearly $90 million worldwide.
