It feels almost cruel to share this news with you — after all, you won’t be able to get your hands on this candy for a few months yet — but it’s such good news (and we need that so badly right now) that it’s more criminal not to. Here it is: The good people at M&M’s are blessing us with a new flavor, and this time it’s permanent. But even more importantly, according to people who have already tried it, it’s also really, really good.
So what is the new flavor? According to People, it’s caramel and it’s coming in May. The candy is described as “a creamy caramel center covered in delicious milk chocolate, enclosed in a colorful candy shell,” which kind of makes you want to curl up and take a nap inside one of these, doesn’t it? But you can’t! Because they’re tiny and meant for eating, not sleeping in.
Don’t like caramel? Don’t worry. People reports that their editors tried the candy and loved it, even if caramel hadn’t been a flavor they’d liked before. “I don’t even like caramel so I’m shocked I dig these as much as I do. They’re chewier than regular M&M’S but not in a bad way. It’s the perfect mix of caramel and chocolate,” one editor said.
Sounds great, and apparently you won’t be able to avoid the candy’s premiere when it finally shows up. That’s because the arrival of our new caramel friends is “expected to be the biggest product launch in the brand’s history.” Let’s cross our fingers and hope that means free samples. (Yes, we know we’re adults! It’s still okay to be excited by candy.)
