Chris Pine Boards Disney’s Adaptation Of ‘A Wrinkle In Time’

Adapting fantasy classics to the big screen can be a daunting task. For every Harry Potter, there’s a Chronicles of Narnia that doesn’t quite measure up to the greatness on the page. However, Ava DuVernay seems to be taking the right steps in her forthcoming adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time, assembling a top-notch cast that will bring the story of Meg Murry’s search for her scientist father to the big screen. Previously it was announced that Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling would be bringing to life Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Who respectively, three magical women who serve as guides for the Murry children on their quest. DuVernay also cast newcomer Storm Reid as the heroine Meg, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as her mother, Dr. Murry.

Well, it turns out that another A-list name has been attached to the project, as Variety reports that Chris Pine is in talks to join the Disney film. Who Pine will play remains a mystery, but he’s the right age to be the missing Mr. Murry. This won’t be the first time that he aligns with the House of Mouse, after playing Prince Charming in the big screen take on Into The Woods. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that A Wrinkle In Time will require a perfectly smarmy musical number like “Agony.” Maybe next time.
