“Chewie, we’re going to Disneyland.”
When Disney slipped George Lucas a bag with four billion dollar signs painted on it, they weren’t only investing in new Star Wars movies. They were buying the rights to all things Star Wars. The toys, the holiday specials (hopefully), the theme park attractions. A 14-acre Star Wars-themed land is coming to both Disney World and Disneyland, the details of which will finally be unveiled next month in a special hosted by Harrison Ford. That’s gonna be awkward.
Harrison Ford… will be on hand to reveal new details for the planned Star Wars-themed lands coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World as part of ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 special, airing February 21. (Via)
The only attractions Disney has announced so far is a “customized secret mission” aboard the Millennium Falcon and an “immersive experience where visitors will be dropped into a climactic battle between the First Order and the resistance.” The opening date remains unknown, but you should probably start lining up now. There’s only 3,482 people in front of you. Maybe you’ll get lucky, and see Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree being demolished.
