It’s been 10 years since the original High School Musical first graced screens and captured hearts with a catchy soundtrack and an enthusiastic cast. Now that the franchise has multiple sequels and a now-world famous cast to its name, Disney made the smart decision to draft off the excitement around the anniversary and announce a fourth film in the series. According to E! Online, it is sooo on:
Disney Channel just announced that it’s officially returning to East High for a new installment of the hit TV movie franchise. We’ll not only meet the new Wildcats, but we’ll also get to know East High’s rivals, the West High knights!
So no, the original cast probably won’t be making any appearances in the new film. Zac Efron is busy flexing on the beach, Vanessa Hudgens is rocking pink silk jackets, Ashley Tisdale is starting feuds over a parking spot, and Corbin Bleu is … well maybe there will be a few people that make cameos. Even if your favorites aren’t coming back for another round of fun, that doesn’t mean you don’t have an excuse to whip out the dance moves and reenact all of your favorite moves from the original trilogy. Don’t even pretend like you forgot how awesome the “Get Your Head in the Game” choreography was.
Even after time away from the world of smitten East High Wildcats and spontaneous dance numbers in high school cafeterias, as soon as the announcement broke the denizens of the internet were still more than ready to welcome new Wildcats into their lives.

High School Musical 4 is trending above relevant political topics…because priorities. Also, this tweet clearly doesn't help change that.

Your excitement may vary depending on how badly you want to see Lucas Grabeel in a sweater vest and gelled hair again, but the movie is happening either way. Open casting starts soon so grab those tearaway track pants and butterfly hair clips and give it your best shot.
