They’re not screaming. They’re celebrating Earth Day. Fox just dropped the second full trailer (first one here) for Independence Day: Resurgence, and not a single landmark is safe. As Jeff Goldblum’s character David Levinson says, “They like to get the landmarks.”
The new trailer shows a surprising amount of new footage we didn’t spot in the first trailer, Super Bowl spot, and most recent TV spot. “We always knew they were coming back,” and now they’re using gravity as a weapon.
Fox also used this Earth Day trailer to announce they’re selling the original Independence Day for 99 cents on Google Play (with proceeds going to Earth Day Network) and encouraging everyone to watch and live tweet under #IndependenceDayLive starting at 4 pm PT tonight, which seems a little early for live tweeting a movie considering how drunk we’d have to be. Oh, who are we kidding? We’re already drunk.
To help us all defend our planet, this weekend the original INDEPENDENCE DAY (1996) movie will be available for only $0.99 on Google Play, with all of Fox’s net proceeds being donated to Earth Day Network! […] Fans can also participate in a global #IndependenceDayLive Earth Day Watch Party, starting at 4pm PT tonight, by following #IndependenceDayLive and @IndependenceDay.
Fox has also released an Earth Day PSA starring Earth Space Defense Director David Levinson — who looks suspiciously like Jeff Goldblum — reminding us (and anyone else listening) to never mess with Earth.
