We know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is still far, far away from playing in theaters anytime soon, and that’s tough to handle. Anything can happen between now and May 5, 2017 — we could be under a Trump presidency in which he outlaws cool movies! But even with that strange hypothetical, it doesn’t mean fans can pressure a creator to churn out trailers and release more info before they’re ready. Part of the reason why their art is so wonderful is because they took the time to mold it, polish it, and make sure it’s perfect.
Guardians fans, however, seem to have very little chill.
James Gunn took to Facebook to explain that while he’s grateful for the overwhelming interest in Guardians 2, people essentially harassing him over the trailer is getting old.
“When I post a photo of a much needed getaway to Palm Springs and someone comments, ‘Why aren’t you working on the goddamn Guardians trailer?’ or I post a tribute to the passing of Gene Wilder and someone comments, ‘Where the f*ck is the trailer, asshole?’- well it gets a little uncool.”
No one wants an ornery James Gunn stressed out, trying to get a trailer done just because people keep asking for it on Facebook. Hopefully, this message will resonate with fans and Gunn can continue his work in peace.
