Lauren Cohan Thinks Her Creepy Doll Movie Is Scarier Than ‘The Walking Dead’

The box office success of the core, still-alive The Walking Dead cast is limited. Andrew Lincoln hasn’t been in a movie in five years, Melissa McBride has mainly stuck to short films, and even fan favorite Norman Reedus can’t get anything better than “Truck Driver” in the Vacation reboot.

Analysts think they’re having more trouble getting movie roles than the Game of Thrones cast because “when you’re being chased by a dead person, it’s hard to make them look as appealing,” but that doesn’t explain the lack of stardom for Lauren Cohan, who could be covered in zombie guts and riot gear and still look like a million bucks. Or six million, which is how much Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj, which she unfortunately starred in, made.

Her next film looks a little more promising. The Boy is a familiar horror movie — creepy house, creepy adults, creepy child named Brahms, obligatory shower scene — with one big twist: The titular boy is a doll.

“[The Boy] goes on this really, really disturbing unnatural journey,” Cohan told MTV News over the phone. “It has some things that happen towards the end that are just twisted… it’s extremely thrilling and entertaining. I read it very quickly, I put the script down, and I thought ‘Can I handle this? After doing a year of Walking Dead, can I handle this?’ I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and I thought, ‘Well, that’s my answer, then. I have to just handle it. I have to do it.’” (Via)

Movie pitch: A doll that’s also a zombie. I’ll call it Zombie Doll, and cast Chandler Riggs (CORALLLLL) as the main character, ensuring that no one will ever see it. The Boy is out January 22, 2016.
