At this point, everything we’ve seen of SPECTRE makes it seem like director Sam Mendes is going all in on creating the most action-packed James Bond film yet. That’s obviously a relief, but also expected, considering the film was reportedly over budget before production even began. But as we near the November 6 release date for the 24th installment of the 007 franchise, everything about SPECTRE is intense and confident, from the incredible Day of the Dead opening scene to the death-defying Rome car chase, so, naturally, it’s time to turn to one of the most important aspects of this cinematic empire – the Bond Girls. Sorry, that’s Bond Women.
This newest behind-the-scenes featurette allows Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux to introduce us to their characters while discussing the legacy of the often powerful females who have teamed up with or rivaled every Bond, from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig. Significant focus is especially given, again, to Bellucci’s character, Lucia Sciarra, because of the actress’s age. However, if we’re going to discuss the evolution of the Bond Women, the conversation should begin and end with “At least her name isn’t Dr. Christmas Jones.”
Now all that’s left is to just announce that Sam Smith will sing the SPECTRE theme song. Although, I’m still pulling for a dark horse with Robbie Williams and Take That.
