We could have sworn The Unwatchables was the working title for the next installment of The Expendables, but it turns out to be the parody low-budget Avengers-style team up movie we didn’t know we needed.
Mashable created this mashup with the premise of taking “some of the worst superhero movies of all time and [editing] them together into one amazing mega trailer.” The end result is a bonkers ’90s action movie starring Barb Wire, Steel, Swamp Thing, Underdog, The Shadow, and The Phantom. And this sad trombone of a superhero league is teaming up to fight Trel, the villain John Travolta played in Battlefield Earth, a movie Travolta thinks we just didn’t understand. (Well, he’s right. I didn’t.)
On the other hand, I would watch the hell out of a team-up movie with pulp comic characters and more obscure superheroes, particularly if they’re fighting John Travolta hamming it up in prosthetic makeup. Doubly so if the prosthetic makeup Travolta is wearing is his character in Hairspray, or Robert Shapiro, or Prince. And there should be an after credits scene with Nic Cage showing up as Travolta’s fellow villain raising the stakes for the sequel. Hate to see them go, love to watch them leave. *releases a torrent of doves*
