After months of waiting, it’s finally here. The second Wonder Woman trailer has arrived! And it is everything fans could have hoped for and more.
There are a few changes from the comics. Now, instead of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) being a lone airman who washes up on Themiscyra, Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) home, he’s part of a WWI battle that spills onto the island. So the trailer opens with Amazons whupping WWI-era butt, although it does imply that the arrival of bullets to Amazonia has a tragic end.
We also get an in-depth look at the action scenes, including an alleyway fight where Diana, pulling a Clark Kent, stops an assassination attempt by deflecting bullets with her gauntlets and a trench warfare scene where she trashes a host of Germans. There’s also a hint or two about the overall plot, which revolves around a dangerous new chemical weapon that can punch through gas masks, and a woman with a facial prosthetic who seems fond of using it. This villain in particular has been the subject of some speculation, as she doesn’t really fit most of Diana’s past enemies, and definitely isn’t a Greek god. And we also see a bit more of Lucy Davis’ Etta Candy, who appears to be the comic relief and who doesn’t react well to Diana’s point about 1910s fashion and its practicality.
We’ll see more of Wondy applying sword to German in June 2017. And if you want to see this trailer on the big screen, it’s in front of Doctor Strange.
