The other day — when writing about Usher’s amazing Foster the People cover — I mentioned how the internet had sort of ruined cover songs for me, because there’s just so damn many of them out there, and how “rarely do I come away impressed anymore” by covers on YouTube. Well I take it all back, because this cover of Carly Rae Jepson’s hit “Call Me Maybe” — destined to be the Song of the Summer that just hit number one on the charts — just blew my freakin’ mind.
