This week has already seen the startling returns of David Bowie and the Replacements, and now, according to reports, Justin Timberlake will be joining them, as he’s rumored to announce a new album, and possibly a new single with Jay-Z and long-time collaborator Timbaland, later today. What’s this based on?
(UPDATE: at precisely 12:01 p.m. EST, JT released a “teaser trailer,” which is embedded at the bottom of this post.)
Clearly something’s going to happen today, and Hip Hop Wired adds:
For a while, this seemed like a hoax. However, multiple sources are confirming that Justin Timberlake’s long-awaited return to music will go down later today. Florida’s Radio Now 97.9 reported that the 30-year-old singer/actor is prepping the release of a new single on Monday that will feature Jay-Z and produced by long-time collaborator Timbaland. (Via)
In my mind, JT picked this week because: he was sick of FX’s Justified, and not his Justified, being the top Google Search result for the word, and he’s socking it to Justin Bieber, whose label dubbed the Swaggy Bro the “prince of pop,” which, no. In related news, fellow former-‘N Sync member Chris Kirkpatrick announced HIS album on the side of an abandoned Denny’s this morning at 2 a.m. It was written in ketchup and tears.
UPDATE: at 12:01 p.m. EST, JT linked to the following teaser trailer.
There’s also a countdown, which is currently at three days and eleven hours. Ugh.
“You know what’s cooler than a million dollars? Watching a teaser for an announcement for an album,” apparently.
