I have now watched the music video for Alison Gold’s “Chinese Food,” produced by Patrice Wilson, the Ark Factory musical mastermind behind “Friday” and “Thanksgiving,” four times, and during those approximately 13 minutes, all I could think of was: this is totally normal. What’s so weird about a grown-ass man hanging around with a bunch of tween girls dressed as panda? Tickle fights? Innocent. That dripping sweet and sour smile? Fun.
Patrice Wilson isn’t a creep. No, he’s just a guy who uses the dog Monopoly token in a song about Chinese food, meaning he’s racist. BIG difference between the two.
