There have been rumors and murmurs of a new album from Blink-182 for a while now, but, until now, the buzz remained rumors and nothing more. However, it seems that drummer Travis Barker has confirmed that, in fact, there is a new Blink-182 album on the horizon.
As these are modern times, the news came through a comment Barker left in response to a fan on an Instagram photo on his account. In said comment, Barker indicates that a new Blink-182 album will drop in 2016.
Of course, even with this news, there is still the elephant in the room, and said elephant is named Tom DeLonge. It has seemed that a split between Mark Hoppus and Barker and DeLonge is all but inevitable for a while, and all indications would lead one to believe that there shall be no DeLonge on this new Blink album. For recent live shows, Alkaline Trio guitarist Matt Skiba has filled the hole that DeLonge left, and reportedly he has discussed stepping in for this new album as well.
Blink-182 released their last album, Neighborhoods, in 2011, and that album came after an extended break that began after their 2003 self-titled release. So yes, those of you who have been patiently waiting for the guys who brought you “What’s My Age Again?” to give you some new music should get excited. Your dreams apparently will come true in 2016.
