Glenn Danzig stopped off in Orange County, CA for his Blackest of the Black festival over Memorial Day weekend, and it seems like some of that locale’s notoriously conservative beliefs might have rubbed off on the former Misfits frontman. In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Danzig admitted that he supports President Donald Trump’s repeatedly squashed Muslim travel ban and revealed he’s a believer in the “baby parts’ conspiracy theories surrounding Planned Parenthood.
Danzig compared Trump’s indiscriminate ban on all people from certain Muslim-majority countries to the fact that he’s been turned around at the Canadian border before.
“It’s really not a travel ban,” Danzig said. “When you walk into the country, we want to see who you are and what you’re doing. Well, when I go to every country right now, they look at me and they see whether I can come in or not. And I’ve been turned away from Canada and other places before. Where’s my protest? Where’s my parade?”
He also said that he’s pro-choice, but compared Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue donations to a “chop shop.”
“I’m pro-abortion and I’m pro-Planned Parenthood,” he said. “But I don’t think Planned Parenthood should be selling baby parts like a chop shop in Brooklyn, okay?”
Fans have every right to be incensed, as the old Danzig would never have put any qualifications on infanticide. Like the old saying goes, you either die a nihilist cartoon, or you live long enough to see yourself become a right-wing caricature.
