It’s no surprise that Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear are big David Bowie fans (after all, they did cover his classic “The Man Who Sold The World,” during their time in Nirvana).

Well, to celebrate the iconic artist’s memory, the two drove around Los Angeles with Playboy, in search of some of the places Bowie used to frequent back in the day. Through the adventure we learn how Kurt Cobain ultimately chose to cover “The Man Who Sold The World” thanks to Smear’s suggestion; how Smear and his bandmates from former group The Germs stalked Bowie (which led to Germs frontman Darby Crash keeping a cigarette Bowie smoked, and putting it into a vial for a necklace he would wear); and other miscellaneous facts.

There’s also a brief moment where Grohl recites the chorus to Juvenile’s “Back That Ass Up.” Even Joan Jett makes a cameo (granted, it’s only through a cell phone call, but still it must be pretty cool being able to speed dial a living legend like that).

Check out their complete adventure in the video above.
