D.R.A.M. and Lil Yatchy’s “Broccoli” is one of 2016’s biggest hits and a feather in the cap for both young artists since it crossed the double platinum mark a few weeks ago. For all their success, it turns out that Rick Rubin deserves at least a small bit of the credit.
D.R.A.M. was a guest on Tuesday’s morning episode of The Breakfast Club where he explained how the music guru, who D.R.A.M. calls his “mentor,” was the one who connected him with Yachty at a ritzy resort of all places. “In February, I was at Shangri La in Malibu for a week and a half, that’s where I met Yachty,” the Hampton native said. “[Rubin] had brought him out there while I was staying there on a little retreat.” Ever since, the two young artists have remained cool with one another.
The conversation is an entertaining one as the “Cha Cha” singer-rapper tells tales about his dog, Idnit, not holding ill will towards Drake personally for lifting his first big hit to make “Hotline Bling,” and more.
Also, D.R.A.M. unveiled his newest video for the song “Cash Machine,” one of the songs set to be included on his debut album, Big Baby D.R.A.M, set to release on October 21. Watch the new visual below.
