Hookworms’ Video For ‘Each Time Will Pass’ Visualizes Human Connection In Kaleidoscopic Ways

Just days before the release of their fifth album, Hookworms have shared the video for “Each Time We Pass.”

AV projectionist and video artist Sam Wiehl helmed the treatment, which depicts 3D scans of the band, their collaborators and fans that conjoin and metamorphosize in an array of colors and textures, making messy knots of people as the song progresses.

The song features vocals from Alice Merida Richards of Birmingham, UK outfit Virginia Wing. The guest spot finds Hookworms’ synths in dreamier territory, as the similarly conjoined vocals of Richards and Hookworms vocalist MJ trade lines.

In a press release, the band had this to say about the collaboration:

“This track was the first time we have ever truly collaborated with an artist external to the band, in the most modern sense of the word. It was an extremely rewarding experience and it is one of the only Hookworms songs where I can happily stand back and admire it as it had been written by another band.”

“Each Time We Pass” is one of three collaborations featured on the upcoming Microshift. In addition to Richards, the band have also teamed with British experimental musician Richard Formby and Christopher Duffin of XAM Duo (which also features Hookworms’ MB, who made the inaugural mix for our new series, The Selector).

Microshift arrives on 2/2 via Domino Records. You can pre-order it here.
