Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ Beat Out The Gorillaz To Stay No. 1 For A Third Week

Despite stiff competition from the Gorillaz’ long-awaited album Humanz and Mary J. Blige’s Strength Of A Woman, Kendrick Lamar and his album DAMN. reign at the top of the Billboard album charts for a third week.

DAMN. moved an incredible 173,137 equivalent album units this last week to remain on top. Last week, the album cleared the platinum hurdle faster than any previous TDE album or K Dot album before it. This weekend, Lamar took to Miami to perform some of the songs off DAMN. for only the third time ever at the Rolling Loud festival. Kendrick’s dominance to clock a full month at the top of the Billboard charts will be tested next week when Logic’s latest effort Everybody makes its chart debut.

Coming just below Kendrick’s latest seminal work at No. 2 is Gorillaz. The virtual UK band returned after a six-year hiatus with Humanz, arguably one of the more talked about albums of 2017. From the Benjamin Clemente assisted “Hallelujah Money” to the slew of singles featuring D.R.A.M., Vince Staples and more, the “Clint Eastwood” group have been pushing non-stop to let the world know they’re back. The band matched their highest charting position, 2010’s Plastic Beach, with 139,548 total units sold.

Kendrick shouldn’t get too comfortable with his No. 1 position however. His chart supremacy will surely be tested next week when the first week numbers for Logic’s latest effort Everybody start to roll in.
