Tonight Little Big Town picked up a Grammy award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance on their track “Better Man,” which was penned by none other than Taylor Swift. While she might be making blockbuster pop albums now, like last year’s record-breaking reputation, Swift proved she can still write a tearjerking country song that outpaces anyone else in the genre with this track, which finds the narrator wishing an old partner could’ve been better.
The quartet performed the song backed by a view of the gorgeous New York City skyline, bringing some much-welcomed twang to the Big Apple award show. The song has earned Little Big Town a lot of attention as a lead single off their latest album, The Breaker, but if you’re a newcomer to the band I also recommend digging back into their discography for the incredible 2005 album The Road To Here and 2007’s A Place To Land — you will not be disappointed.
The song was also nominated tonight for Best Country Song, but lost out to Chris Stapleton’s “Broken Halos,” which he will likely perform later on in the evening. Watch their performance of “Better Man” above and check out the full list of winners continually updating throughout the night here.
