Mike Will Made-It had last spring lit with his Ransom 2 album. The project followed through on the DJ Khaled formula by grabbing a who’s who of hip-hop and R&B and throwing them together. The result was one of the best mainstream rap albums of 2017 and an exhibition of why he’s not just a beatmaker, but a full-on soundscape curator. Mike Will Made-It may be looking to cash in on an even bigger ransom this year, as he was recently seen in the studio – sort of – with Dr. Dre and Eminem. In the meantime though, he’s trying to squeeze more buzz out of last year’s project, as he recently dropped the remix for “Aries YuGo” with the appropriately named “Aries Yugo (Pt. 2).”
The cosmic collaboration initially featured just Pharell, but Mike Will Made-It also reached out to Big Sean, Rae Sremmurd and of course Quavo because why not. The new artists expertly ride the typically galactic-sounding instrumental, though they don’t talk about astral signs as much as they do dollar signs. From Pharell shouting out “the n**** with the bag” on the chorus to Big Sean channeling Jigga with his “I’m a eight figure n**** by the name of Big” proclamation, you can tell these guys are aiming for the Forbes list. The braggadocious banger is proof that it’s never too late for a remix.
