With his new self-released EP, Lamentations, coming out this Friday September 30th, experimental R&B singer Moses Sumney has released his video for the track “Lonely World.” Having been released just two days ago via Sumney’s Soundcloud page, “Lonely World’s” video is just as gorgeous as the song itself. The Los Angeles singer-songwriter also enlisted everyone’s favorite jazz fusion bassist, Thundercat, to help handle the spacey track’s bass parts.
With “Lonely World” being almost five minutes long, it has a slow build throughout. Once you get three minutes into the song, it really takes on a whole new life adding energetic falsetto vocals and very rhymthic drumming thanks to Son Lux drummer Ian Chang. Moses has been been spending the past few weeks on tour opening for James Blake on his North American tour. Sumney will also appear on Solange Knowles surprise new album A Seat At The Table, which is also set to come out September 30th.
The multi-layered breathtaking track follows up Sumney’s previous single, “Worth It,” which will also be featured on this Friday’s Lamentations EP. With stellar appearances at this Summer’s Eaux Claires festival as well as Moogfest, Moses Sumney is a name you will see and hear more of in the coming months.
