Nick Jonas and Ty Dolla $ign linked up for a live performance of “Bacon” at tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards. It started out at the Tick Tock Diner on 34th St., which seated a slew of guests including Joe Jonas’ band DNCE, New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., and rappers Fabolous and A$AP Ferg before the camera moved on to Ty Dolla $ign singing his verse outside the Duane Reade near Madison Square Garden, where Jonas then completed his performance.
Jonas also had a “key” moment with DJ Khaled during the pre-show.

Despite its dubious title, “Bacon” is one of the highlights from Jonas’ surprisingly good Last Year Was Complicated, released earlier this year. Ty Dolla $ign gives it a more mature and sexy feel with his unmistakably smooth voice, much like his contribution to Fifth Harmony’s huge hit, “Work from Home.”
Tangentially, although Jonas expressed frustration with MTV earlier this year over not receiving a nomination for “Close,” his video with Tove Lo, the two sides were able to mende fences in time for tonight’s performance. No harm, no foul.
