Young Thug’s gender-bending wardrobe might get more attention than his music, and according to Billboard his most daring fashion statement is yet to come. They caught up with Thug in Los Angeles a few days after his latest LP Jeffery premiered at No. 8 on their Hot 200 album chart, talked fashion and weddings with him, and got some headline worthy quotes out of the 25-year-old rapper.
“When it comes to swag, there’s no gender involved,” Thugger said about his unorthodox fashion choices before revealing that at his wedding “There will be two brides.” Of course, Thug is no stranger to dresses, so it’s not the most shocking declaration considering the source and the glowing gown he wore on the Jeffery cover.
About the now infamous Jeffery dress, he said “When I seen that dress, I felt like God gave it to me,” before noting that his cross-dressing goes back as far as his childhood. “When I was 12, my feet were so small I wore my sisters’ glitter shoes,” he said. “My dad would whoop me: ‘You’re not going to school now, you’ll embarrass us!’ But I never gave a f*ck what people think.”
The abnormal has now become the norm for Thug, so a wedding gown, glitter shoes as a 12-year-old? It’s all par for the course for the eclectic ATLien.
