Kodak Black is a free man for now after posting $100,000 bond in his sexual battery case. The rapper, real name Dieuson Octave, just finished serving his 120-day sentence in Florida on Tuesday when he was immediately extradited to South Carolina to face his next court case involving a female fan who alleged he sexually assaulted her despite her repeated attempts to stop him.
The 19-year-old rapper shared the news of his release on his Instagram with a picture of him smiling from ear to ear. “I’m happy to finally be going home to my family and friends,” a happy Kodak wrote in the image’s caption. “I look forward to clearing my name in the very near future. I want to thank God, my family, my team (Vanessa, Phatboy, and James McMillan), Atlantic Records, my lawyers and all of my fans for your continuous love and support. I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love most – working at being the illest rapper alive.”
The victim in the sexual battery case claims Black attacked her Feb. 6 at a Florence County Comfort Inn and Suites in South Carolina following a club performance. The unidentified woman says the rapper “pushed her into a wall and then down onto the couch in the room” before sexually assaulting her on the floor. Despite her screams for him to stop, Kodak Black allegedly continued assaulting her and ignored her pleas.
Kodak faces up to 30 years in prison if found guilty on charges of criminal sexual conduct.
