Following his team’s 85-83 win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday in which he contributed 28 points, two of which came on a game-winning 19-foot jumper as time expired, Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins was still not in a jovial mood when he met with the postgame media. After repeatedly uttering the phrase “How you gonna stop God’s plan,” Cousins ended the interview abruptly and walked away. Afterwards, it was not clear to people in the locker room what he meant by that, nor why he seemed so annoyed, but Cousins may be feeling the weight of the team’s losing on his shoulders.
He was clearly the MVP of Sunday’s win, but the team is 18-32 on the season and 9.5 games back of a final playoff spot. In addition, it’s rumored that the Kings may have plans to replace current head coach Ty Corbin.
Sources: Kings and George Karl's rep will re-engage Monday. Front office has recommended hiring, deal terms are close. it's on owners now.
