It’s been a rough day for Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores. According to reports, the 23-year-old is going from New York to Milwaukee in a move that will land the Mets ace outfielder Carlos Gomez. Somehow, Flores caught wind of the move and started crying, which probably isn’t a shock, because the Mets are the only team he’s played for in his three-year career.
The weird thing is, after learning about this, a teary-eyed Flores went back out onto the field and kept playing for New York. That’s a bit strange, as 1) he was reportedly traded and 2) he was, you know, sobbing. Why, exactly, did the Mets keep him in the game? Apparently everyone jumped the gun, and the move hasn’t actually been completed.
Asked official involved with Gomez trade why Flores is still in game. Reply: “No deal is done. The entire world has jumped the gun.”

It is a little weird that Flores reacted the way that some guys do after learning that they were traded, even though he hasn’t been moved yet. Of course, it’s certainly possible that Flores asked to stay in the game after learning of the impending deal, which is why he stayed in.
No matter what, this is so incredibly awkward for Flores and the squad, especially if the deal doesn’t manage to go through. Poor guy.
