Everyone jokes that “NFL” stands for “No Fun League,” mostly because whenever any player celebrates anything for more than two seconds, they get penalized. It’s pretty high up on the list of the lamest things about the NFL, and on Monday night, the league lived up to the reputation of a massive organization that hates fun.
Antonio Brown caught a touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger in the third quarter of Pittsburgh’s game against Washington. The score gave the Steelers a 24-6 lead, and it was Brown’s second score of the game. He’s been carving up the ‘Skins, as he is wont to do, so of course he was going to celebrate the touchdown with a little extra swagger.
His touchdown grab was nice – Roethlisberger threw a dime and Brown hauled in an over the shoulder grab despite being draped by Josh Norman – but Brown’s touchdown dance was even nicer. He celebrated by twerking so much that he got penalized, and while the celebration was wonderful, the penalty was unsurprisingly lame. In Brown’s defense, if you’re going to get an unsportsmanlike penalty by the league’s horrible definition of “unsportsmanlike,” you might as well earn it. And my goodness, did Brown earn this penalty.
He also earned a pretty hefty fine. According to Darren Rovell, this penalty will cost Brown a whole lot of money.
$9,115: Fine for Antonio Brown twerking in the endzone.

Never stop twerking, Antonio. Don’t let the haters (ex: referees) drag you down.
