With all the injuries that occur in preseason, it seems a little funny that San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush would try to hit the hurdle button and see what happens. Alas, that’s exactly what he did in the 49ers’ game on Saturday against the Denver Broncos. Except Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib wasn’t about to have any of that nonsense. Rather than go low, Talib squared up, caught Bush mid-flight and promptly slammed him into the turf.
A little skirmish erupted as a result, but that tackle is all on Bush. You leave your feet on purpose, be ready for the consequences– especially against a player like Talib. And, to be clear, Talib didn’t do anything dirty. That’s how you tackle a dude who thinks he’s going make you look like a fool on SportsCenter’s Top 10.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Bush has been blown up. But it will probably be the last time it happens while attempting to hurdle a guy.
