Arian Foster Announces His Sudden Retirement Because His Body ‘Just Can’t Take The Punishment’ Anymore

Arian Foster‘s football career is over. The talented, outspoken, and oftentimes injured running back announced his decision to retire on UNINTERRUPTED, saying “There comes a time in every athlete’s career when their ambition and their body are no longer on the same page” and “my body just can’t take the punishment this game asks for any longer.” You can read his entire statement right here:

While he retired as a member of the Miami Dolphins, Foster was best known for the seven years he spent in Houston as a member of the Texans. His breakout year came in 2010, when he ran for 1,616 yards and 16 touchdowns, both of which were league-highs, en route to being named a first-team All-Pro selection for the only time in his career.

For his career, Foster was one of the very best receivers in the NFL when he was able to stay healthy. Foster ran for 6,527 yards yards with 54 touchdowns in 80 career games. In the passing game, Foster caught 255 balls for 2,346 yards and 14 scores. In 2016, Foster only played in four games with two starts, accruing 22 carries for 55 yards while he tried to work his way from a groin injury that he suffered during the season. He was also trying to make his way back from a season-ending Achilles tear that he suffered last year.
