Greetings again, fight fans. We’ve got a light week, with just one event of note going down, but that’s okay, next week will more than make up for it. That’s for another time, though. Right now, we’re dealing with Bellator 147, live from San Jose, California.
The prelims start at 7 p.m. EST, streaming free on Spike.com and Bellator.com with nine scheduled bouts. The prelims are a little thin on name talent, but A.J. McKee is in the final fight before the main card. He’s the son of former UFC fighter, Anthony McKee, so it will be interesting to see how well the second-generation fighter does.
The main card starts at 9 p.m. EST on Spike TV, with five fights. A personal favorite of mine, Virgil “The Rez Dog” Zwicker takes on Brian “The Professional Predator” Rogers in a light heavyweight contest. Both men are known for throwing hands with bad intentions, so that should be a good fight. Also on the card, Patricky “Pitbull” Freire rematches Derek Anderson at lightweight.
In the co-main event, Daniel “The Weasel” Weichel takes on Georgi Karakhanyan in featherweight action. Weichel is a former title challenger, while Karakhanyan held the World Series of Fighting title at 145 pounds. That should be a fun fight, too.
The main-event is a lightweight scrap, as Josh “The Punk” Thomson meets Pablo “El Gallo” Villaseca. Villaseca is a bit of an unknown, but Thomson doesn’t have an easy go here. He’s always at risk of his body breaking down because that’s what happens to most fighters from American Kickboxing Academy.
The fights should be fun, so join Uproxx Sports for a live discussion. We can talk about every punch, kick, slam and submission!
