On Monday, IK Enemkpali was a complete unknown second year sixth round draft pick linebacker on the New York Jets. On Tuesday, he announced himself to the world by literally breaking Geno Smith’s jaw with a solid punch, over something minor. As the world laughed at Geno’s misery and the hilarity that is the New York Jets, IK was quietly cut from the team, presumably for, you know, breaking the jaw of the presumed starting QB.
Well leave it to Rex Ryan to turn comedy gold into comedy platinum. The new brash coach of the Bills immediately scooped him up, according to Ian Rapoport. You could argue that IK played a year under Rex Ryan last season, so Rex knows what IK is capable of and how to use him, but that would be a rational football argument and probably the one Rex will use in his press conference if he has one.
Let’s be real, Rex was fired from the Jets after two years getting saddled with a thoroughly mediocre-to-bad Geno Smith to replace Buttfumble Sanchez. He wants revenge. If we have a Jets player willing to send another Jets player to the hospital, imagine how many Jets players he will send to the hospital when he plays for a rival. I fully expect IK Enemkpali to be a starter for the Jets games.
