BKB is a new take on fisticuffs, and the biggest part of that is the fighting area. Instead of a traditional square ring with ropes, BKB has taken the square root of the squared circle, giving us The Pit.
At 17 feet in diameter, the fighting area is even smaller than a 16-foot “phone booth” sized boxing ring. That means there is less room for a boxer to run, so fighters in BKB must take more of an aggressive, action-oriented approach. A defensive fighter won’t have as much room to put distance between himself and an opponent, which also means less time spent chasing and cutting off angles of escape. Fighters that step outside of the Pit to gain a reprieve will also be subject to a one-point deduction, so it’s much better for a fighter to throw leather than get on his bicycle.
Another added benefit is the lack of ropes, which makes it much easier for fans to see the action inside the Pit.
You can check out The Pit in action live on pay-per-view on Saturday, April 4th at 10pmEST at BKB 2 in Las Vegas. To learn more, visit BKB’s official site.
