Polarizing. Controversial. Spectacular. Undefeated. Those are all words you could use to describe Cam Newton in the 2015 NFL season.
While Newton is probably the leading candidate for NFL MVP and has led the Carolina Panthers to a 13-0 start to their season, he also has drawn his fair share of criticism for his antics on the field. Some view his celebrations, like this one, as over-the-top and unsportsmanlike.

Hall of fame defensive end Richard Dent is among those who are criticizing the Panthers’ QB, as he recently talked to USA Today Sports about how he feels as though Newton is showing disrespect to his opponents.
“I’m going to knock your ass out of the game. That would’ve been my approach. At some point in the game — not with a cheap shot — I’m going to try to get a shot that puts you out for the day. That’s the risk when you want to showboat all the time.”
Dent was a member of the famed 1985 Bears’ squad that many consider to be the best defense of all-time, and considering the era he played in, his comments on Newton aren’t all that surprising.
“Act like this is what you’re getting paid to do,” Dent said. “But these kids, that’s what you get in the Twitter, Facebook world. It’s ‘Look at me!’ “
No matter whether it’s Dent or a Tennessee mom, or anyone else saying things about him, it doesn’t look like Cam will stop dabbing when he scores any time soon, so I guess the only way to stop it if you’re an opposing team is to actually prevent him from getting into the end zone. A novel concept, I know.
