Jenny’s goal was to bring senior citizens to a home game.
Coach Q brought the game to them instead. #WhatsYourGoalhttps://t.co/lSmsejwZXD

Not only have the Chicago Blackhawks been one of the most dominant teams in the NHL for much of the past decade, they’ve also done a whole lot of great things as a franchise off the ice as well.
Their latest came as a part of the team’s “What’s Your Goal?” initiative and sent coach Joel Quenneville to a local senior center, where Coach Q (and friends) helped create some incredible memories for a group of older fans.
Jennifer, who manages the Centennial Activity Center, told the Blackhawks that her goal was to have a group of residents have the chance to experience a game at the United Center. However, the Blackhawks decided to do something especially unforgettable for the residents. Instead of bringing them to the UC, they brought a game to them.
Citing the center’s reputation as having very active residents, head coach Joel Quenneville led a group that included his assistant coaches Mike Kitchen and Kevin Dineen, TV play-by-play man Pat Foley, organist Frank Pellico, anthem singer Jim Cornelison and the ice crew to put together a pickup ball hockey game right in the senior home.
The residents certainly seemed to enjoy themselves as they squared off in ball hockey. And, as an added bonus, it looks like their contest was one hell of a nail-biter. The white team is lucky they ultimately pulled out the victory because I was worried this woman was going to have someone’s head on a stake after the tying goal.
This isn’t the first great example of the “What’s Your Goal?” campaign at work — and it probably won’t be the last, either — but it’s definitely a surefire way to put a smile on anyone’s face.
