By now you may have heard the rumors that Chip Kelly called his former running back LeSean McCoy this week to try and hash things out, only to have McCoy hang up on him.
Well, after the Eagles beat the Bills 23-20 to move to 6-7 and in serious contention for the NFC East title, Kelly was feeling rather indignant with reporters after the game. When one reporter from the Philadelphia Inquirer (who broke the story) asked him about it, Kelly had some choice words for members of the media.
“A lot of it to me is tabloid journalism, they’re just trying to stir things up it doesn’t affect us we were playing the Buffalo Bills, a really well coached team by Rex Ryan that has a lot of really good players, but when people want to make up false stories about me calling someone during the week and them hanging up on me, I just think…I mean people trying to get Twitter hits or things like that to make themselves significant when sh*t doesn’t happen.”
When asked point blank whether Kelly called McCoy he denied it before giving the reporter a shrug and some serious side eye.
Although there is obviously no way to tell whether Kelly or the reporter Jeff McLane’s sources are lying (someone could try to ask McCoy but he was not speaking to the media after the loss), Kelly certainly appeared to take this battle in the ongoing war between himself and the Philadelphia media.
