Cole Hamels Claims He Paid $70,000 For Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Tickets, And Then Wasn’t Allowed In

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Cole Hamels really wanted to attend the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year, so much so that he was willing to pay nearly $70,000 to do so. Unfortunately, he put that money in the wrong hands, and he got nothing. Now, he’s suing.

According to Philly Mag, Hamels reportedly paid $68,730 to entertainment agency Cornucopia Events for three VIP tickets — one for himself, one for his wife, and one for a friend — to the fashion show in November, but was denied entry when he got there.

The lawsuit says Cornucopia told Hamels it could provide him with a VIP package that included tickets to the show and afterparty, accommodations at the Kensington Hotel in London, a limo to and from the event and other related perks for £15,995 a person. At the time, the lawsuit alleges, Cornucopia said the show would not be returning to New York — where it has always been held — and would be in London instead.

Although the show ended up being in New York, the company still said it would have three tickets for Hamels. The lawsuit says Cornucopia told him he could get his tickets at the door. He couldn’t get in. But, hey, at least he didn’t accidentally go to London for a show that wasn’t there! Despite not getting to attend the show, Hamels did attend the afterparty.

Now, Hamels is seeking somewhere between $50,000 and $75,000 in damages, which seems pretty fair when you spend $70,000 for a whole lot of nothing.

The real question here, though, is why anybody would spend that much money to watch the VS Fashion Show in the first place. Sure, Hamels signed a $144 million deal back in 2012, but still…that’s a lot of money to watch models walk down a runway in an event you can just watch on TV anyway.

Regardless, I hope the afterparty was cool at least.
