What were you doing in 4th grade? My biggest memories of 4th grade are playing ‘Final Fantasy’ for the NES, discovering Watchmen comics and having no idea why everyone thought my teacher’s name was so funny. It was “Mrs. Cocke.” I was nine, I thought they were calling her a chicken. I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was still stuck somewhere between “astronaut” and “marine biologist.”
Colin Kaepernick had a better plan: he was going to grow up to play for the San Francisco 49ers. That’s not a retconned “football has always been my dream” story … he actually called it in the 4th grade. No, seriously, look:
“I’m 5 ft 2 inches 91 pounds. Good athelet. I think in 7 years I will be between 6 ft- to 6 ft 4 inches 190 pounds. I hope I go to a good college in football then go to the pros and play on the niners or the packers even if they aren’t good in seven years. My friend are Jason, Kyler, Leo, Spencer, Mark and Jacob. Sincerly Colin”
The best part is “sincerely,” because he sincerely expects to be between 6-foot and 6-4. I wish I was friend!
In all seriousness, this is great, and an example of how you should never get too discouraged when you’re little, because you never know what crazy place you’ll end up. I mean, look at me. When I was 10, I had no idea that cock meant anything other than chicken, and now I make dick jokes for a living on the Internet. LIVING THE DREAM.
